After being sedated and captured near a residential area in Chile, this cougar was finally set free in the mountains. A real history with a very happy end.

Après avoir été capturé sous sédation, à proximité d'un quartier résidentiel au Chili, ce puma a finalement été remis en liberté dans les montagnes. Une vraie histoire avec une fin heureuse.

Wildlife filmmaker Jim Dutcher and Dr. Morris Hornocker, the world's leading mountain lion expert, spent two years in the wilds of Idaho to produce this rare and intimate portrait of a five-year old cougar and her three kittens. Through spectacular photography, the elusive cougar is revealed as both predator and guardian, a mysterious phantom in nature's hidden world.

Jim Dutcher, cinéaste en faune, et Dr. Morris Hornocker, expert mondial au sujet du lion de la montagne, ont passé deux ans dans la nature sauvage de l'Idaho pour produire ce portrait intime et mystérieux d'un puma âgé de cinq ans et de ses trois chiots. Pumas’ monitoring program in the chilean Patagonia / Programme pour monitorer les pumas dans la Patagonia chilienne

This initiative was led by the Conservación Patagónica foundation (Chile) with the support of the National Geographic Society, the Felidae Conservation Fund and the University of California Davis.

Special tracking collars, equipped with global positioning system (GPS) devices, were placed on three pumas to gather information about individual location and movements of the felines.

The capture of the pumas was made using anesthetic darts and was authorized by the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) of Chile.

Cette initiative a été menée par la fondation Conservación Patagónica (Chili) avec l'appui de la National Geographic Society, du Felidae Conservation Fund et de l'université de la Californie Davis.

Des colliers spéciaux équipés par des dispositifs avec le système de positionnement global (GPS), ont été placés sur trois pumas pour recueillir des informations sur la localisation et les mouvements des félins.

La capture des pumas a été faite en utilisant des dards anesthésiques et a été autorisée par le service d’agriculture et de production animale (SAG) du Chili.

Un cougar au Québec ! / A cougar in Quebec !

20 juillet 2007 - Un cougar a été filmé près du village de Fortierville à 75 kilomètres de Québec. Le cougar n'a jamais été revu depuis que le vidéaste amateur l'a filmé. Selon le ministère de la Faune, il serait retourné chez lui, vers le nord.

July 20, 2007 - A cougar was filmed close of the village of Fortierville, about 75 kilometers from Quebec. The cougar has not been observed again since the amateur video maker filmed it. According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife, it would have returned to its home, towards north.

Once again, I feel shame to be a part of a "human" race that has people who live in the total brutality.
