This initiative was led by the Conservación Patagónica foundation (Chile) with the support of the National Geographic Society, the Felidae Conservation Fund and the University of California Davis.
Special tracking collars, equipped with global positioning system (GPS) devices, were placed on three pumas to gather information about individual location and movements of the felines.
The capture of the pumas was made using anesthetic darts and was authorized by the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) of Chile.

Des colliers spéciaux équipés par des dispositifs avec le système de positionnement global (GPS), ont été placés sur trois pumas pour recueillir des informations sur la localisation et les mouvements des félins.
La capture des pumas a été faite en utilisant des dards anesthésiques et a été autorisée par le service d’agriculture et de production animale (SAG) du Chili.
