This initiative was led by the Conservación Patagónica foundation (Chile) with the support of the National Geographic Society, the Felidae Conservation Fund and the University of California Davis.
Special tracking collars, equipped with global positioning system (GPS) devices, were placed on three pumas to gather information about individual location and movements of the felines.
The capture of the pumas was made using anesthetic darts and was authorized by the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) of Chile.

20 juillet 2007 - Un cougar a été filmé près du village de Fortierville à 75 kilomètres de Québec. Le cougar n'a jamais été revu depuis que le vidéaste amateur l'a filmé. Selon le ministère de la Faune, il serait retourné chez lui, vers le nord.
July 20, 2007 - A cougar was filmed close of the village of Fortierville, about 75 kilometers from Quebec. The cougar has not been observed again since the amateur video maker filmed it. According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife, it would have returned to its home, towards north.
